Friday Food Finds -Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream Review

It’s summertime so give me all of the cold treats! And what a better way to get into the summer vibe than a nice bowl of ice cream. I recently had the opportunity to try the new Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream flavors. Having worked with the Arctic Zero team in the past, I happily accepted the offer.

The new Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream flavors contain between 280-360 per pint and get their creamy texture from real milk, cream and cane sugar. It’s a new formula with new ingredients, and it’s a big change from the Arctic Zero we all know. For those wondering, the new pints are not lactose-free like their Fit Frozen Dessert line since these do contain dairy. They are however non-GMO certified, rBST free and contain no sugar alcohols.

Arctic Zero Light Ice Cream comes in 7 flavors:

  • Vanilla Bean
  • Chocolate Chunk
  • Mint & Chocolate Cookie
  • Cookie & Brownie Dough
  • Cookies & Cream
  • Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cookies
  • Toffee Crunch

With this new line of ice cream, there is also no need to thaw … just grab a spoon, dig-in and enjoy!

Vanilla Bean

There’s something truly satisfying about the simplicity of a classic vanilla ice cream. In this case, Arctic Zero kicked it up a notch by adding specks of real Madagascar vanilla beans into every pint for the ultimate vanilla taste. The result was a bold, yet fresh vanilla bean flavor that was not overpowering at all. The ice cream itself was extremely creamy, easy to scoop and no iciness whatsoever. The perfect base for ice cream sundaes, with a slice of cake or just enjoyed on it’s own.

Chocolate Chunk

Attention serious chocoholics! Your search for an ultra-creamy bowl of chocolate ice cream heaven ends right here! This is every chocolate lovers dream. This chocolate ice cream is rich, smooth and the large chunks of dark chocolate are plentiful. Truly a decadent ice cream experience!

Mint & Chocolate Cookies

I can only imagine that the creator of this flavor is a big fan of Girl Scout Thin Mints + eating them cold out of the freezer because that’s what this flavor tastes like! Not only do you get the distinct mint taste, but there are cookie and chocolate chip chunks throughout the pint. All of your thin mint cookie dreams really do come true with this flavor. This flavor was delicious!

Cookie & Brownie Dough

Cookie and Brownie Dough together. What could be better? Being a huge fan of the Cookie Dough Chip and Brownie Blast from their Chunky Pint line, I was excited to try this flavor. After removing the lid, I had to dig around the pint quite a bit to find any of the chunks. Unfortunately the ice cream to cookie/brownie dough ratio was about 80/20. Sadly, I only found about 5-6 chunks of cookie and brownie dough bites in the entire pint. The cookie dough pieces I did try were soft and sugary as one would expect and the brownies chunks were rich and chocolatey. Perhaps it was just a bad batch. Seeing that other reviewers had a much better experience, I would definitely give this flavor a second try.

Cookies & Cream

Calling all cookies and cream fans. Arctic Zero knocked it out of the ballpark with this flavor. Their version of this classic flavor has a creamy vanilla ice cream base that is just LOADED with chunks of chocolatey sandwich cookies. The chocolate cookies are sweet and mostly soft except for a few bits that have some crunch to them. Overall, I was happy with the cookie portion of this treat. They were plentiful and can be best described as an Oreo explosion in every bite.

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cookies

This flavor combines two of my favorite food groups, peanut butter and chocolate sandwich cookies. The amount of peanut butter in each mouthful of this is unreal. Not only do you get a rich peanut buttery flavor from the ice cream base, but there are swirls of peanut butter throughout the pint and a generous portion of cookie chunks scattered throughout the pint. A tasty and enjoyable experience for the die hard peanut butter lover.

Toffee Crunch

Of course I had to save the best for last. Toffee Crunch was slightly reminiscent of one of my favorite flavors of ice cream growing up, Butter Brickle (not even sure if this flavor exists anymore). The gooey caramel ribbons and toffee bits are more than plentiful and you do not have to dig through the pint to find any of the good stuff. It’s loaded! This flavor is dangerously delicious and a must try for the sweet and salty fans.

Overall, Arctic Zero did a fantastic job with the consistency and flavor of their new ice cream line. To recap my favorites in order of preference; Toffee Crunch, Chocolate Chunk, Cookies & Cream, Mint & Chocolate Cookies, Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cookies, Vanilla Bean and Cookie & Brownie Dough.

  1. They sent all the ice creams here too, and my dad was the taste-tester. He loved the chocolate chunk and had the same issue with the Cookies and Brownie flavor. He also thought the Toffee was too sweet. So glad that Arctic Zero created this line – they were really suffering there with the original stuff (I know you liked it, but sorry, it wasn’t very popular with the majority of folks, haha). Happy Friday!!xx

    • It sounds like your dad and I have similar taste buds! The Chocolate Chunk was amazing! It’s a shame about the Cookies and Brownie- such potential but so few mix-ins. I have a fan of their chunky pints and glad that this new line has some good potential! xoxo

  2. Hooray! So glad all these flavors were delicious and that Arctic Zero has improved their product. I’d be all in for trying the Toffee Crunch. I definitely remember Butter Brickle, it needs to return if it doesn’t exist!

    • Hi Jo! Arctic Zero has come a long way since their original line. I’m glad I’m not the only one who had a thing for Butter Brickle! My mom would buy Turkey Hill’s brand growing up. So good and yes, it needs to come back!
