Friday Food Finds – Better Together Bake Shop Brownies Review

Nothing says love quite like homemade baked goods. And what could be better than the fudgy, chocolaty goodness of a brownie! Especially when they are small batch and made back in my home state. Today I’m sharing my review for Better Together Bake Shop; a bakery based outside of Philadelphia that has a line of indulgent frozen brownies.

About Better Together Bake Shop:

Better Together Bake Shop is a Philly based bakery run by husband and wife team Todd and Kestra Kelly. Sometimes the best plan in not having a plan. Sitting in his cube one day buried in spreadsheets, Todd knew it was time for change. Later that day he turned to his wife and told her he wanted to start a baking company. So both quit their day jobs in D.C. and moved to Philly to follow their dreams and love for baking. Founded on the belief that using high quality ingredients without preservatives is the cornerstone of better baked goods, they set out to elevate a classic American treat(like the brownie) and make them better, together.

The brownies come in 5 flavors: Espresso Dark Chocolate, Sea Salt & Caramel, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookie and a fun new flavor, Cake Batter + Sprinkles(Available exclusively at Whole Foods Spring House, PA). Each box comes with 5 individually wrapped brownies. Their handcrafted artisan brownies contain no refined sugar or preservatives; just pure simple ingredients. The brownies can be enjoyed frozen or simply pop them in the microwave and they’re ready in just seconds.

Who’s ready to start sampling with me!

Dark Chocolate Espresso

The Dark Chocolate Espresso brownies combine two of my favorite pleasure in life: chocolate and coffee. These brownies are not an over-the-top espresso brownie, more just a hint-of-espresso-flavor brownie, so you don’t need to be a coffee aficionado to enjoy these. The espresso flavor enhances and deepens the dark chocolate making for an even more decadent treat. If you enjoy honest-to-goodness, rich and dense brownies, you will have found your bliss when you bite into these. The brownies are a little crispy on the edges and totally fudgy in the middle. Serve these warm with vanilla ice cream! I mean, is there really any better combo than a warm brownie and cold, vanilla ice cream?

Sea Salt & Caramel

Imagine your most thick, dense, fudgy, rich, beautifully baked brownie. Now imagine it layered with soft caramel. Not like a sickly-sweet caramel. A just-right, flavor-rich, soft, silky caramel. These delicious little bites are sweet, salty, chocolaty and gooey beyond your wildest dreams. I was only going to eat a bite, but then I had another bite and another bite. I couldn’t stop. They were so good!

The thick ribbon of salted caramel inside took these brownies to a whole different level! I heated this for 15 seconds in the microwave. Just look at all of that gooey caramel! One bite and I was in brownie heaven!

Peanut Butter & Chocolate

Is there even a better flavor combination than peanut butter and chocolate? These brownies will blow your chocolate and peanut butter loving mind. The brownie layer is fudgy and chewy, while the peanut butter layer is soft and dense. The peanut butter layer gives them a velvety, ultra-soft texture missing from traditional chewy brownies. I thought the peanut butter filling was reminiscent of a Reese’s peanut butter cup filling. Need I say more! These insane brownies should really come with a warning label!

  1. Oh goodness, I’d be all over those peanut butter cup-reminiscent brownies!!! Wowza. Great backstory for the company as well. As always, you do companies a wonderful service by doing your research and sharing the best serving ideas for the products. Happy Friday xx

    • Happy Friday Liz! Thank you for saying that! I not only enjoy sharing new products but also the back story behind the company and their mission. It’s so important to make that connection not only with your readers but also with the company. I somehow already knew that the PB and Chocolate would be right up your alley! Enjoy your weekend! xo

    • Thanks for checking out the blog Miah! You cannot go wrong with the Sea Salt and Caramel!! So good!!

  2. I have been wanting to try these. I saw a review on YouTube and immediately called my local Whole Foods Market to find out that they did not have them…BOO! I would love to try the Sea Salt Caramel, however they all look divine. Thank you for the giveaway.

    • Hi Adrienne! Which Whole Foods do you live near? Perhaps the company can find out when they will be in your area.

  3. Oh my gosh, these look so good! I envy their bravery for taking the leap to start their own baking company. I sure wish them all the best. When I worked at a froyo restaurant we had a brownie sundae on the menu and the brownies we used were just the best. I’d always snag one and warm up for a few seconds, pure heaven. I think I’d want to try the sea salt caramel one first!

    • Hi Jo! They are totally living my dream! And I agree, such a leap of faith to leave great careers to pursue their dreams! So inspiring! How fun to have worked in a froyo restaurant! And you seriously cannot go wrong with any of their brownie flavors. Sea Salt and Caramel definitely has my heart!

    • Julia! They are amazing! I hope you can find the brownies a Kroger’s or Whole Foods near you!
