Friday Food Finds- Breakout Bar Review

Happy Friday friends! In today’s grab and go world, protein bars have become increasingly popular as a quick and convenient dietary option. Finding a bar that stands out from the crowd can be difficult. A few weeks ago, Breakout Bar contacted me through social media to try their line of protein bars. Today, I’m sharing my full review.

About Breakout Protein Bar…

Breakout Bar is a St. Louis based nutrition company that believes in WANTing More, DOing More and BEcoming More! As someone in the health and wellness industry, this powerful slogan resonated with me in such a positive way!

Breakout Bars are handmade with zero added sugar or preservatives. Beyond the eye-catching wrappers and super-healthy names, lies some seriously impressive, yet nice and short ingredient lists- huge selling point with me. I also loved that the main carbohydrate sources in these bars come from whole grains like puffed millet, rolled oats, amaranth and buckwheat groats.

First up to try – Oat Batter Baby!

BREAKOUT BAR, FRIDAY FOOD FINDS, OAT BATTER BABY, PRODUCT REVIEW

Oat Batter Baby is very unique for the protein bar market. The texture of this bar comes from the blend of oats, amaranth, puffed millet and buckwheat groats. At only 4 grams of sugar, the sweetness of this bar comes from the honey and light cacao coating on top. This was my least favorite of the flavors. With a name like Oat Batter, I was hoping for more of an oatmeal batter/cookie-like taste with this one.

Coco Nutty

BREAKOUT BAR, FRIDAY FOOD FINDS, COCO NUTTY, PRODUCT REVIEW

I went a bit Coco- Nutty for this flavor! No pun intended!

BREAKOUT BAR, FRIDAY FOOD FINDS, COCO NUTTY, PRODUCT REVIEW

Coco Nutty tastes like a “healtified “Almond Joy bar. This bar has chunks of cashews, toasted coconut flakes, puffed millet and just a touch of dark chocolate on top. It’s the perfect bar to tide you over between meals and kept me full for several hours. Hands down, this was my favorite flavor!

Choco Peano

BREAKOUT BAR, FRIDAY FOOD FINDS, CHOCO PEANO, PRODUCT REVIEW

Choco Peano was one of the first flavors Breakout Bars introduced. Look at the amount of love that went into this bar! Chunks of whole almonds and peanuts throughout the bar – I was in heaven! Nutty, soft and chewy – like a cross between a healthy crispy treat and a traditional granola bar. I loved the texture of this one!

  1. Yet again, you’re my go-to bar newscaster! 🙂 Thank you for these honest reviews, as always. In a protein bar, I look for high protein, low sugar, high fiber, moderate carbs; and GREAT TASTE WITHOUT NASTY CHEMICAL AFTERTASTES. Wishing you lots of rest, recovery, and care this weekend, dear Wendy! xo

    • Happy Friday Liz! HAHA- that made me smile! These bars definitely fit the bill- low sugar, high fiber and high protein! I love it when you can recognize and pronounce the ingredients as well! I bet your dad would love the Coco Nutty! Have a great weekend dear friend- xo

  2. I like the look of these & that last one without a coating would help when it gets warm again – if it ever does here! 🙂 Like the sound of that 2nd one! Are they in stores?

    • Hey Jody! All three flavors actually have the light chocolate coating on them! For now, I know they can be only purchased online but there are a few gyms that carry them as well. I checked and there are none in California at the moment but that could change soon!
