Friday Food Finds – Cherryvale Farms Review

I truly enjoy cooking and baking for my family and friends most of the time. As much as I love spending hours creating homemade treats from scratch, time does not always allow for that to happen. Thankfully, there are companies out there, like Cherryvale Farms, who offer a healthier alternative to many of the boxed mixes on the market.

About Cherryvale Farms:

Cherryvale Farms is a family owned baking mix company run by CEO Lindsey Rosenberg and her business partner/father Michael Rosenberg. Their mixes were created so home cooks of any level can whip up delicious baked goods in minutes while using real, fresh ingredients you would find in your own pantry. Depending on the mix, all you have to add is fresh fruit, produce, or nuts plus oil and/or water for results that taste as good as homemade.

The product line is 100% plant-based, non-GMO, egg-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free(with the exception of Instant Indulgence Rich Chocolate & Salted Caramel Chocolate; which both contain soy lecithin) and free from preservatives and artificial colors and flavors, making them an excellent option for those managing food allergies or intolerances.

Cherryvale Farms offers seven mixes in their “Everything But The…” line:

  • Banana Bread
  • Pumpkin Spice Bread
  • Cornbread
  • Blueberry Muffin
  • Chocolate Brownie
  • Oatmeal Cookie
  • Peanut Butter Cookie

and three flavors in the Instant Indulgence Mug Cake mixes:

  • Rich Chocolate Brownie
  • Salted Caramel Chocolate
  • Birthday Cake

 Let’s get baking!

Pumpkin Spice Bread Mix

I love pumpkin bread. In fact, one of my fondest childhood memories is spending hours baking pumpkin loaves with my mom and then carting them off to every neighborhood potluck and holiday party. Fortunately, Cherryvale Farms was able to capture that nostalgia in their easy to use pumpkin spice bread mix. The mix calls for just 3 simple ingredients; canned pumpkin, oil and water. Within five minutes of mixing, my pumpkin loaf was ready to pop in the oven. Adding mini chocolate chips is optional but highly encouraged! After waiting patiently for the loaf to cool, it was finally ready to slice into. The result was a moist, flavorful pumpkin bread that rivaled my mom’s classic recipe. Even my picky hubby approved and he’s not a fan of pumpkin desserts.

The best part about the bread mix is that you can make other desserts with it, too, like donuts. I reserved a small portion of the batter to make these yummy pumpkin donuts!

Add frosting and some fun sprinkles and you’ve got yourself a donut party!

Oatmeal Cookie Mix

Similar to the pumpkin bread, the oatmeal cookies were also very easy to prepare. This one bowl wonder is packed full of flavor and is made in less than 20 minutes. Simply combine the contents of the mix along with 1/3 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup of oil(I used 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1/4 cup extra applesauce). As much as I enjoy a classic oatmeal cookie, I added some raisins to the batter. You will love the smell of these cookies baking. In 12 minutes, I had a sweet treat to share and enjoy. These cookies bake up moist and soft, with lots of chewy texture from the oats and raisins. Transfer them to an airtight container once they’re completely cool, and they’ll stay that way for days(if they even last that long!)

There’s nothing quite like a freshly baked oatmeal cookie straight out of the oven. I can never wait for them to cool before I have to bite into one!

Instant Indulgence – Rich Chocolate Brownie

The newest addition to their product line, Instant Indulgence Mug Cake Mixes are single serve treats that take almost no effort to prepare. These first of their kind, plant-based mixes make enjoying a treat on-the-go easy and delicious. If the thought of making a rich fudgy brownie in less than 2 minutes seems too good to be true, you’re in for a sweet surprise. All you need is a microwave safe mug, a packet of the mix and water. The best part is, it goes from looking like this…

To this single serving of heaven! In less than a minute and a half in the microwave, I had a warm and wonderful brownie to enjoy. The chocolate was rich and indulgent while the texture of the brownie was soft and gooey. Delicious on it’s own, this could easily be transformed into a decadent dessert by adding a scoop of ice cream. Where were these mixes when I lived in a college dorm room? The small individual sized packets make them a perfect option for tossing in your bag for traveling, enjoying at the office or as a gift for your favorite foodie.

Make It… Bake It… Love It!

Overall, I was very impressed with all three products I tried from Cherryvale Farms. Not only are the mixes incredibly easy to prepare, they taste just like homemade. I am a “from scratch” baker, but I have to tell you, I would break the rules with these mixes.

  1. You and I definitely share that same love of baking for friends and family – it’s therapeutic, fun, and delicious 🙂 I’d totally try the pumpkin spice bread mix first; and I’m so glad even Picky Gary loved it! Hahahaha. TGIF! XO

    • Hi Liz! We sure do! I’ve always said, my kitchen time is my therapy and I’m also able to share my creative side as well! Happy Friday and yes, I may have converted Gary to the pumpkin side!

  2. Oh wow, each product sounds delicious. I also love baking for family, friends and neighbors. I’m not a great cook, but do love baking up sweet treats. Adding choc chips to the pumpkin bread sure took it to the next level, I’d be all over that, yum! And those single mug cakes are just perfect for traveling. I’m heading to their website now. Glad you and Gary both enjoyed the mixes!!

    • Hi Jo! Baking is like therapy for me! And nothing beats a box mix that can rival a family recipe! The pumpkin bread was definitely enjoyed by both of us! And the mixes, SO perfect for travel!
