Friday Food Finds – Coconut Oil Creations Review

Is there anything better than coconut oil? With so many amazing health benefits, I hopped on the coconut oil train several years ago and use it almost daily in my cooking and baking. But how about adding it your morning cup of coffee? The idea of using fats such as coconut oil, butter or ghee in coffee has been around for a long time. However, it’s gained even more popularity in recent years with the creation of the so called “Bulletproof Coffee.” I have tried to use coconut oil in my coffee before, and it didn’t end well. It sat on top of my coffee and it was admittedly tough to drink. When Coconut Oil Creations contacted me about trying their coffee creamer alternatives, I was game to give it a go again.

About Coconut Oil Creations…

Created by Debi Bryk, a holistic nutritionist and certified health educator, Coconut Oil Creations is one of the first products on the market to infuse organic spices directly into a coconut oil. Those spices include; ceylon cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves and raw cacao. Offered in four flavors: Golden Spice, Pumpkin Spice, Chai, and Mocha; this coffee creamer alternative is organic, vegan, free from dairy, soy, gluten and sweeteners.

So let’s put them to the test!

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Once you see the rich chocolate color of Mocha, you’ll want to eat this straight out of the jar! I loved putting this creamy goodness into my morning coffee. Better yet, try this recipe for a Cafe Mocha that may just rival your favorite coffee shop. Add a cup of hot coffee, 1/4 cup unsweetened dairy free milk(I used cashew), 3-4 drops liquid vanilla stevia, 1 scoop of collagen and 1 tablespoon of the mocha coconut oil into a high powered blender and blend away. I love how the coconut oil and the coffee form a nice emulsion when blended, leaving my drink all creamy and smooth. So good, I guarantee you’ll never stand in line at Starbucks again. You’re welcome!

Golden Spice

Infused with turmeric, Golden Spice is perfect for sauteing or roasting chicken, fish, veggies and even in your scrambled eggs. I’ve always had a love for using turmeric not only for its many health benefits, but also the flavor it lends to recipes. I created this Indian inspired coconut curry rice dish using this flavor. Wow… just wow! Turmeric not only gave my rice this beautiful yellowish-orange hue, but also gave it a richer more earthy flavor. I’m also pretty excited to try it in this Golden Milk Latte recipe I’ve had saved on Pinterest for so many months now!

Overall, I enjoyed using these in my coffee but also appreciate the versatility of using them in recipes too. For those looking to kick the processed creamer habit, these are not only a healthy alternative, but why not reap the benefits of adding some healthy fats into your diet too!

  1. “Is there anything better than coconut oil?” As long as it IS truly coconut oil, and not coconut flesh, you know I’m down 😀 I’m not a coffee person for anything, but I’m glad you enjoyed these! HAPPY FRIDAY! XO

    • Hi Liz! I know how you feel about coconut my friend! I’m excited to do more cooking and baking with these in the New Year- so stay tuned! I just love the health properties of using coconut oil and feel my best incorporating it into my diet! xo

  2. I found a ‘recipe’ on Pinterest that combined tumeric with coconut oil to help with acne scars, so it was so crazy to find that this is one of her products with the golden spice. I’ve heard great things about the Golden Milk so the Golden spice sure sounds perfect for that recipe. I’m bummed that coconut was one of the highly reactive foods for me from my sensitivity test, dang!

    • I’m bummed about the whole coconut thing for you too. Hopefully down the line, it will be something you can incorporate back into your diet. I’m all about the healing qualities of using turmeric not only in recipes but capsule form daily. With all of my husband’s golfing, I’ve added it to his reportoire of supplements!
