Hello and Happy Friday! I’ve been on the look out for some fun new food finds this past month. Here are a few Friday Food Finds I could not wait to share with my readers!
Dannon Light and Fit Salted Caramel Yogurt
I admit that I’m a sucker for anything Salted Caramel or labeled limited edition. This is a decadent delight at 80 calories and 12 grams of protein. I felt like I was eating an indulgent dessert but one that is friendly on the waistline. This is incredible by itself but can also be used as a pancake topping or frozen like ice cream. I bought 10 (yes, I am a food hoarder) since they are limited edition. Be on the look out for this limited edition flavor as it will not be around much longer.
Strongbody Ice Cream Bars
StrongBody was kind enough to send me both of their flavors to try- Chocolate and Vanilla. I’ve tried the Vanilla flavor so far. The bars are made with all natural ingredients and sweetened with Stevia. It’s just like eating a Klondike bar but far healthier. The ice cream was nice and smooth and easily cured my sweet tooth. The nutrition for the bars are pretty amazing: 130 calories, 10 g protein, 15g carbohydrates and 3g fat. Check out StrongBody on line or on Face Book at StrongBodyBars.
Favorite Friday Food Finds: Califia Farms Holiday Nog
Since I’m not fortunate to have a Whole Foods in my area, I had to do some serious searching to find this product. I finally found it at a local health food store. One sip of this almond based Holiday Nog and I was hooked. The verdict? It has a nice creamy flavor with strong notes of nutmeg. It’s a bit thinner than I was expecting. However, I have used it to flavor my coffee, added it to hot cocoa and also used it in my pancake batter. Click here to find out more about Califia Farms and some of their other delicious products.
Quest S’Mores Bar
Quest Nutrition just released their S’mores bar about a month ago. I’m a huge fan of anything S’mores so I was quick to jump on the bandwagon for this new flavor. The bar is 180 calories, 8 grams fat, 23g carbs(14g fiber), 20 grams protein and 1 gram sugar. The bar was chocked full of graham crackers, chocolate chunks and marshmallow bits. I could taste hints of cinnamon graham cracker in each bite. It certainly does not replace eating an actual smores bar. I love to bake or broil my bars to bring out the flavor. They get really crispy on the top and soft and gooey on the inside. This flavor is now in my top 3 along with White Chocolate Raspberry and Cookies and Cream.
ABS Protein Pancakes
This was an impulse buy on cyber Monday since I had heard so many great things about ABS Pancakes on social media. They have 3 flavors: Chocolate Chip, Vanilla Cake Batter and Cinnamon Roll. I ordered Chocolate Chip. Each package makes approximately 40 pancakes. They use only all natural ingredients are pride themselves on being gluten free and non-GMO. You cannot beat their nutritional stats for their pancake mix: 24 grams of protein, 15 grams carbohydrates, 5 grams fat, and 7 grams of fiber – which means 8 net carbs. They were so easy to prepare. You simply add 1/3c egg whites and 1/3 c unsweetened almond milk to the base mix. The pancakes were light and fluffy. They had just the right amount of sweetness and the chocolate melts perfectly into the pancakes. I would recommend you give them a try and let me know what you think!
