Friday Food Finds – Earnest Eats Review

Happy Friday friends! As you know, I’m always on the lookout for new healthy and delicious products. In this week’s Friday Food Finds, I’m very excited to share my review for Earnest Eats!

I found Earnest Eats when researching travel-friendly snacks and breakfast ideas to take with me on my summer vacation and work travel. I absolutely have to be prepared when I travel. I’ll often bring an entirely separate carry-on bag just containing my snacks! Hey, a girl’s gotta be ready for anything, right?

About Earnest Eats:

From their website: “With over 20 years creating foods for other brands, we founded Earnest Eats on a very personal dream that things can be better. The healthfulness of our food, how we source ingredients, and how we give back is our earnest purpose. You’ll see this in our superfood hot cereals, which we crafted over 3 years of development in my home kitchen, inspired by porridges we enjoyed in Asia, Europe and the Americas, until it was the ultimate oatmeal we’d ever seen. And all of our foods give back to the International Rescue committee, helping families from harm to home here in the U.S. and around the world.”

Baked Whole Food Bars

I tried their baked whole food bars in choco peanut butter, apple ginger, and cran lemon zest. Life is busy and sometimes we need something simple and healthy to grab and go to keep us going during training and work days. Don’t let their small size fool you, these little squares pack quite a punch at between 210-230 calories each! Each bar is 100% natural, vegan, dairy-free, wheat-free, soy free and provides at least five grams of protein, four grams of fiber and 190mg of omega-3s in each serving. They also get major bonus points for no weird or unpronounceable ingredients in any of the bars or cereals!

Cran Lemon Zest

The cran lemon zest bar gave pops of cranberries and lemon zest! The flavor was more lemon zest than anything. All in all, this was a very tasty bar even though the cranberry flavor was slightly muted. I would have preferred a bit more cranberry flavor because I love cranberries!

Ingredients: Whole Rolled Oats, Almond Butter, Brown Rice Syrup, Dried Cane Syrup, Dried Cranberries (Cranberries, Dried Cane Syrup, Vegetable Glycerin, Sunflower Oil), Raisins, Oat Bran, Sunflower Seeds, Almonds, Walnuts, Water, Natural Vanilla Extract, Natural Plant Gums (Guar Gum, Gum Arabic), Sea Salt, Natural Lemon Flavor.

Apple Ginger

My favorite flavor was the apple ginger! The fresh apple flavor was the star of the show with just a bit of zing from the ginger! This bar has great texture and kind of reminds me of an apple oatmeal cookie!

Ingredients: Whole Rolled Oats, Almond Butter, Brown Rice Syrup, Natural Cane Syrup, Raisins, Oat Bran, Organic Dried Apples, Sunflower Seeds, Dried Cane Syrup, Walnuts, Natural Vanilla Extract, Natural Apple Flavor, Spices, Sea Salt.

Choco Peanut Butter

Who doesn’t love chocolate with peanut butter? This bar had a delicious peanut butter flavor with a smattering of dark chocolate chips. Great taste, healthy, and the perfect size for a quick small meal or in-between snack! This satisfied my sweet tooth without being terribly sweet.

Ingredients: Whole Rolled Oats, Natural Cane Syrup, (Organic Dark Chocolate Chips (Dried Cane Syrup, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Vanilla), Peanuts (Roasted Peanuts, Salt), Brown Rice Syrup, Almond Butter, Oat Bran, Natural Chunky Peanut Butter, Sunflower Seeds, Dried Cane Syrup,  Natural Peanut Butter Flavor, Guar Gum, Sea Salt.

Earnest Eats Hot & Fit Cereal

Earnest Eats Hot and Fit Cereals are a wheat free blend of whole rolled oats, quinoa, and puffed amaranth that cook up quickly! 1-1:30 minutes in the microwave. That’s it! It’s much like oatmeal in texture; thick, hearty, and a bit chewy. The single serving cups have already been slightly sweetened, so there is no need to add any sweeteners, just your favorite toppings!

Blueberry Chia Hot & Fit Cereal

It’s not quite oatmeal and not quite cereal buts it’s pretty delicious! I really like the blueberries in it, I just wish there were more since I am a big blueberry fan! These are delicious, easy to make and perfect to take on the road. My only reservation is that they contain much more sugar than I would normally have for breakfast. The Hot & Fit Cereals have around 16 grams of sugar per serving. I would love to see a lower sugar option if one were to become available!

Ingredients: Superfood Grains(Whole Grain Oats, Quinoa, Puffed Amaranth), Cane Sugar, Dried Blueberries(Blueberries,Cane Sugar, Sunflower Oil), Sunflower Seeds, Chia Seeds, Korintje Cinnamon, Sea Salt

A.M. Trail Mix

Earnest Eats created the energized hot cereals to give you outrageous nourishment from ingredients chosen to power up your day! The A.M. Trail Mix is powered by coffee fruit and made with organic almonds, raisins and seeds. Not familiar with coffee fruit? Neither was I! Coffee fruit is the highly nutritious, antioxidant rich fruit that surrounds the coffee bean. The A.M. Trail mix can be enjoyed as as a hot or cold cereal or get creative and add it to yogurt or a smoothie.

Ingredients: Organic Supergrain Blend (Oats, Quinoa, Amaranth), Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Raisins Organic Almonds, Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Flax Seeds, Coffee Flour(Dried Coffee Fruit Pulp), Organic Hemp Seeds, Organic Coconut Milk Powder, Sea Salt, Organic Cinnamon

American Blend

The American Blend is a mix of oats, quinoa, and amaranth, packed with sunflower seeds, almonds, flax, pumpkin seeds, and dried cranberries. I used the American Blend to make a lemon blueberry greek yogurt bowl for breakfast. This was so hearty and kept me full until lunchtime!

Ingredients: Superfood Grains (Whole Rolled Oats, Quinoa, Puffed Amaranth), Cane Sugar, Diced Cranberries (Cranberries, Cane Sugar, Sunflower Oil), Chopped Raw Almonds, Raw Sunflower Seeds, Raw Flax Seeds, Raw Pepitas, Korintje Cinnamon, Sea Salt.

Coconut Chocolate Date

Bliss is part of their Detoxifying Hot Cereal line. It is made with coconut and coconut milk to to help soothe and rebalance you! Instead of going the traditional hot cereal route, I decided to make a quick and easy snack. These are what I call “Blissful Coconut Chocolate Bites.” So simple to make and very tasty! Ingredients: Organic Supergrain Blend (Oats, Quinoa, Amaranth), Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Dates, Organic Almonds, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Coconut, Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Milk Powder, Organic Cinnamon, Sea Salt, Organic Globe Artichoke Powder, Organic Dandelion Root Powder

  1. The Earnest Eats products sound wonderful – especially your favorite one, the Apple Ginger bar! Never tried any of their products before. My favorite easy-to-grab, real food snacks would have to be raw walnuts or Blue Diamond Salted Caramel almonds (I don’t care if the flavoring on the almonds makes them less of a real food – I can’t stand the blandness of raw almonds, hahaha. Walnuts, on the other hand, are super flavorful as-is in my opinion). Happy Friday, Wendy! Thank you for sharing another awesome product review (and you always have the best presentation of each product). xo

    • Hi Liz!Great product line that I only recently became familiar with! The bars and oatmeal are perfect options when I travel! I love your snack choice! I do not trust myself with the salted caramel almonds! I love flavored almonds versus plain too! We are two peas in a pod! xo !!
