Friday Food Finds – Evo Hemp Bar Review

As a wellness coach, the one piece of advice I give to everyone, is always have a snack on hand! Sometimes you crave a little sweet or something different. Protein bars are portable and easy to carry with you on the go, problem is many of them just have too many unpronounceable ingredients. I recently discovered Evo Hemp Bar and was impressed by the taste and the all natural ingredients. Today, I’m sharing my full review for these new to me bars.

What is in an Evo Hemp bar?

Evo Hemp keeps their ingredients pretty simple. Just raw organic fruits, nuts, hemp, and a little raw coconut nectar to bind them together. They use only organic ingredients and contain no gluten, no soy, no dairy, no grain, no added sugars, no natural or artificial flavors, and no added colors.

Evo Hemp Bar comes in 6 flavors:

  • Cherry Walnut
  • Mango Macadamia
  • Cacao Dragon
  • Pineapple Almond
  • Cacoa Cashew
  • Apple Cinnamon

Let’s get to tasting!

Cherry Walnut

Evo Hemp was more than generous with the amount of dried cherries in this bar. With cherry as the preodominant flavor, this bar lends its chewy texture from walnuts, almonds and hemp seeds. At first sight, these might remind you slightly of a Larabar but minus any of the stickiness. There is zero aftertaste or grittiness like you can often experience or expect with hemp protein based products. Big fan of this flavor!

Mango Macadamia

If you want to be instantly transported to the tropics, give this bar a try. The first ingredient is dates, but the mango flavor is definitely the winning note. Chunks of dried mango provides a fresh, juicy sweetness, while the macadamia and hemp hearts lends a wonderful mild, nutty flavor. Containing Yerba Mate, a plant found primarily in South America said to stimulate focus, clarity and physical energy, this bar is a great option for a long walk or hike.

Cacao Dragon

The Cacao Dragon bar features a combination of brazil nuts, cacao powder, dragon fruit and spirulina. Not familiar with spirulina? Me either. This superfood is actually pretty incredible for you. Because spirulina is a type of micro-algae, it’s taste might be quite unusual at first. Spirulina is known for having a flavor similar to that of seaweed. The addition of dried fruit(figs, dates and raisins) does help to counterbalance what I can only best describe as the “funky” flavor of this bar. Although it’s a very unique flavor offering, it’s just one that is not for me.

Pineapple Almond

Packed with the juiciness of ripe pineapple, this bar was slightly reminiscent of a fresh baked pineapple upside down cake with the added bonus of savory chunks of almond. The scent and flavor of this bar definitely shout pineapple. The texture was quite tender and not chewy at all. Since I’m a huge fan of anything fruity, I enjoyed this just as much as the mango flavor.

Cashew Cacao

Cashews and chocolate, yes please! Between the richness from the cashews, the sweetness from the cacao and the tanginess of the dried blueberries, this sweet and savory combination made my taste buds do a happy dance. Hands down one of my top 3 flavors.

Apple Cinnamon

Upon opening the wrapper, I was welcomed by the warm scent of apple cinnamon and a generous portion of pecan bits and dried apple chunks. The taste can best be described as a cross between pecan and apple pie. Evo Hemp was quite clever by sneaking turmeric into this bar(which also happens to be pretty amazing for inflammation). Even though I was able to pick up on the flavor, it’s actually quite subtle. What set this bar apart from the others was it’s texture. This was not only super soft but very crumbly too. The bar broke apart as soon as I removed it from the wrapper. Perhaps this may have just been part of a bad batch. Aside from the minor texture issue, I truly enjoyed the flavor of this bar.

With a simple ingredient list and a protein boost from the hemp seeds and protein powder, I recommend giving Evo Hemp Bar a try. My favorite flavors ranked in order of preference are; Cherry Walnut, Cashew Cacao, Mango Macadamia, Pineapple Almond, Apple Cinnamon and Cacao Dragon.

You can find Evo Hemp Bar in many local health stores, or purchased online through their website.

  1. Stop it – your order for the bars would be my order of preferred flavors too! Exactly! Love it 😀 Too bad about the Apple Cinnamon bar’s texture though. Happy Friday!!!! xx

  2. These flavors sound delish. The ingredients remind me of Lara Bars. I’ve not tried these Evo bars but will keep an eye out for them. I think my top two to try would be Cashew Cacao & Apple Pecan!
