Happy Friday friends! I hope the morning is going well and you are all gearing up for a great weekend! The weather should be beautiful again here in the Northeast.
This week, I’m sharing my review for Fiona’s Naturals. For those of you that follow my Friday Food Finds blog, you know that I love learning about different companies that sell great and healthy snacks!
I was excited when the team at Fiona’s Natural Foods recently gave me the opportunity to try out some of their gluten free products, including their granola, oatmeal and trail mix.
Fiona’s is a small company based in Boulder, CO that was started by Fiona Simon in 2001. A family recipe from the organic food movement of the 1960s was the inspiration for Fiona’s Granola. Fiona quickly realized she should share this delicious product with the world. Thus, Fiona’s Natural Foods was born. Their mission is “to offer consumers an organic, gourmet product that is superior in taste, texture, quality, freshness, and nutritional value; we are committed to baking the most delicious, nutritious granola available anywhere.”
Now onto my review!
Fiona’s offers six varieties of granola, two of which are gluten free: Vanilla Sunflower, Cinnamon Almond, Ginger Walnut, Toasted Almond and gluten free Almond Millet and Vanilla Coconut.
The Almond Millet granola is gluten free, vegan, soy free and dairy free! It had a nice light flavor with just the right amount of crunch from the sliced almonds and millet. This granola would be fantastic added into a muffin or pancake batter to add some additional texture and crunch.
My personal favorite was the Vanilla Coconut flavor. I’m a huge fan of all things coconut. The Vanilla Coconut granola is a combination of pure vanilla extract, coconut, and crunchy sunflower seeds. I made some Vanilla Coconut Peanut Butter granola bars with this flavor! I combined my favorite creamy Peanut Butter and stirred in some of the granola. I allowed the mixture to sit for a few minutes then formed it into small bars. These make a perfect afternoon snack!
Next, I dove into the Vanilla Sunflower and Toasted Almond flavors.
The Vanilla Sunflower has the rich flavor combination of vanilla, sunflower seeds, and coconut. I love how versatile all of their granolas are! I made Vanilla Sunflower Cashew Chip Balls with this granola. Super easy and 3 ingredients- cashew butter, granola and mini chocolate chips!
The Toasted Almond granola combines the flavors of almond and coconut. This would be perfect for layering in a yogurt parfait or just eating straight from the bag! One thing that really stood out for me when trying the granola was the texture. I have had granola in the past that has either been underdone or very hard to chew. This is not! It has the right texture due to the granola being slow roasted and hand tossed.
Fiona’s Oatmeal is gluten free, vegan free, soy free and dairy free. This oatmeal had plump juicy cherries and pieces of pecan in it. My first thought was I need to make cookies with this! I used a few servings of the oatmeal and combined it with some mashed banana. 12 minutes in the oven and you have super moist oatmeal cookies. I’m planning to make a few batches of overnight oats and individual muffin cups over the weekend to have on hand for next week’s snacks!
Fiona’s also makes trail mix! The Mountain Blend Trail Mix- can you say highly addictive! Put me and trail mix together and we have a problem. The Mountain Blend is salt free, soy free, raw, and vegan! This blend contains raisins, raw peanuts, raw sunflower seeds, raw almonds, dried cranberries, raw pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips. Huge win in my book and something that really makes it stand out!
