Friday Food Finds – Foodstirs Baking Mixes

It’s been quite the baking frenzy at our house lately. This week isn’t any different. While I’m a huge fan of baking from scratch, I can truly appreciate the convenience of baking mixes. Especially when life happens and all of the sudden you have a last minute gathering, party and birthday all in the same week. Luckily, my good friends at Foodstirs were kind enough to send a few of their popular organic baking mixes for me to try.

 Foodstirs Baking Kits, Review

About Foodstirs

Sarah Michelle Gellar(yes, of Buffy fame) and her longtime friends Galit Laibow and Greg Fleishman, founded Foodstirs in 2014 to help families connect with their children through baking. Each of these friends believed that baking helped their own families bond and set out to bring that same joy to others. However, they realized that baking isn’t always easy, especially for beginners. That’s why they decided to make easy-to-use baking kits that novice cooks and children could enjoy. The name of the company came from their desire to “stir up” the food industry by providing an easy, healthy way to make tasty treats with your kids.

Foodstirs baking mix line includes eight all organic cookie, brownie, cake, frosting, and pancake mixes. All products are USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, directly sourced, certified Kosher, and free of artificial flavors. Each mix contains only 6-10 organic and GMO-free ingredients that can be traced to their source. Now, that’s the kind of mix I can get behind.

Foodstirs is all about bringing the family together, and nothing says love quite like dessert! So let’s get baking!

Chocolate Chippy Cookie Mix

If you don’t have time to make everything from scratch, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste or gourmet quality. For a cookie mix, these were delicious. And if you don’t consider yourself a baker, these mixes couldn’t be any easier to follow and take about 25 minutes from start to finish. The only thing between you and these insanely delicious cookies is one egg, some butter and the mix. Bake for 11 min at 350 and they are the best! Just perfection. The cookies came out so soft, flavorful and delicious.

The mix makes about 18-20 small cookies! These disappeared fast in my house!

Brooklyn Salted Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix

Sea Salt + Brownie = addicting in the best way possible. So obsessed with the Brooklyn Brownies! This fudgy salted brownie mix is a modern twist on a classic treat. The salty sweet combo is SO good and the chocolate chips inside add a little something extra. As promised, the instructions were simple and quick. You only need only 2 eggs, oil, and a little water to get the batter going. I grabbed my whisk and batter bowl, and set to work. I baked the brownies in my favorite silicone pan and they came out just perfect. And they also smell quite divine while baking!

And when I tasted them, I have to say they are my new all-time favorite brownie EVER. The sea salt sprinkled on top is a great touch. I would definitely make these again!

Sunday Stacks Pancake Mix

It is no secret that pancakes are a favorite in our house. I used the pancake mix to make these scrumptious chocolate chip pancake poppers. They taste just like a pancake in muffin form, without having to worry about the flipping and cooking time of standard pancakes. After following the recipe directions on the back of the box, I added mini chocolate chips and poured that sweet batter into some mini muffin pans. Fifteen minutes later, I had 24 of the cutest chocolate chip pancake poppers!

Dunk these warm poppers into your favorite maple syrup and pair it with some fresh fruit. You’re welcome!

Overall, Foodstirs is the real deal and they’ve earned a place in my pantry as a trusted brand. All in all, you’re sure to impress your friends with these treats, and they’ll never know you took a shortcut! I will definitely be on the lookout for the other Foodstirs mixes I have not tried, and look forward to testing those in the future.
