I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! It’s even better when you receive a package for your birthday! The team over at Killer Whey sent this generous package containing both their protein and keto based ice creams for me to try. As a huge foodie, ice cream is one of my favorite desserts that I enjoy year round no matter the season. So I could not wait to dig in!

About Killer Whey

Killer Whey is a Boise-based ice cream company run by husband and wife team Louis and Liz Armstrong along with fellow co-founder Tate Glasgow.  Their mission is to provide their customers with healthy and delicious desserts that are made with simple and natural ingredients that consumers can understand, while not skimping on nutritional value.

Killer Whey offers two kinds of ice cream, their keto line and a protein version, so you can choose according to your preference or dietary goals. Killer Whey’s ice cream’s contain no added sugars or preservatives, use only natural ingredients and are gluten free. The protein ice creams contain an impressive 44 grams of protein per pint and are sweetened with both xylitol and stevia, while the keto line contains a blend of erythritol and stevia. In case you’re wondering what else sets the keto line apart from the protein version, it’s the addition of both MCT oil and chicory root fiber in the base. Killer Whey is currently available in four flavors(each comes in the option of protein or keto); No Judge Mint(Mint Chip), PB & Whey(Chocolate and Peanut Butter), Chilla in Vanilla(Classic Vanilla) and Coco You Know(Classic Chocolate).

Grab a spoon and let’s dig in!

PB & Whey(Chocolate Peanut Butter)

Who doesn’t love peanut butter and chocolate together? Especially in ice cream! The Chocolate Peanut Butter delivers a rich chocolate experience that is not overly sweet combined with the slightly salty ribbons of peanut butter. The consistency is creamy and luxurious, without a speck of iciness. Although my initial scoop had quite a few chunks of peanut buttery goodness, there simply was not enough throughout the pint for my liking. To get on par with some of the other protein ice creams on the market, this flavor would definitely benefit from some additional peanut butter swirls.

No Judge Mint(Mint Chip Flavor)

Mint chocolate chip has been my favorite ice cream flavor since childhood, so I could not wait to dig in to this flavor. Love, love, love the mint chip! First, I can appreciate that this is NOT mint green in color. Killer Whey kept it all natural and added peppermint extract to flavor the ice cream versus using any artificial coloring. This flavor boasts creamy minty goodness with just the right amount of chocolate chips scattered throughout the pint. Mint can often come often be very overpowering in flavor. Killer Whey managed to keep it clean and quite refreshing.

Chilla In Vanilla (Keto- Vanilla Flavor)

Since I do not follow a ketogenic diet nor have I tried a keto based ice cream before, I was quite excited to try the last two pints. I am not normally a vanilla ice cream fan, but this one has me sold. A classic done right. Super creamy and flavorful with a rich vanilla bean flavor, this will make you wonder why every vanilla ice cream doesn’t taste this good. I also love that you can see the vanilla beans and taste the rich vanilla flavor in every bite. Although the base flavor is delicious on it’s own, I could easily see adding either some fun sprinkles or chocolate topping for a fun sundae.

Coco You Know (Keto Chocolate Flavor)

Coco You Know is what I would call Killer Whey’s version of a classic chocolate. Creamy and indulgent, this flavor has the right balance of sweetness and rich chocolate flavor that will make any chocolate lover swoon. The best part is a little goes a long way so you don’t need to eat a giant bowl of ice cream to feel satisfied! Delicious!

If you are searching for a way to satisfy your craving for ice cream, I definitely recommend trying one of Killer Whey’s ice creams. Although I enjoyed both varieties, my personal pick would be the protein line. My favorite flavors in order of preference; No Judge Mint, PB & Whey, Coco You Know and Chilla In Vanilla.

Since Killer Whey is not yet widely distributed, I would recommend checking availability through their store locator or ordering from their online store to have them delivered right to your door.

  1. ADORABLE packaging! Reminds me of my beloved Martha’s Vineyard. Too bad about the lack of peanut butter, but otherwise it all sounds awesome (especially the consistency) – don’t make me choose a flavor 😉 Happy Friday!

    • Hi Liz! I didn’t even think of that with the label! HAHA, yes, the whale is definitely reminiscent of my trips to the vineyard too! The PB & Whey is definitely worthy of trying, I would just like more peanut butter in the pint! Happy Friday! xo

  2. I love the branding/packaging/names! So cute. Mint chocolate chip and butter pecan are my two favorite ice creams. 44g protein per pint!?! Whoa. This is the first company that I’ve seen with a ‘keto’ specific ice cream product. I’m glad you enjoyed them!

    • I loved the packaging too Jo! I’m hoping Killer Whey gets out into more locations! Very worthy of trying especially the Mint Chocolate Chip!! Butter Pecan is also a favorite of mine as well as rum raisin!
