Friday Food Finds – My Favorite Indulgence Review

Granola is one of those things that I just can’t get enough of. I loved it as a kid, and I still love it as an adult! There are few snacks as satisfying as granola – the crunchy goodness is delicious on yogurt, with milk, or straight from the bag. When Vicki, at My Favorite Indulgence offered to send me some of her world class granola to try, how I could I resist!

About My Favorite Indulgence:

Vicki Schrimmer is the owner, chef and Chief Tasting Officer behind My Favorite Indulgence. This granola did not simply happen overnight. Over a 10-year period, hundreds of trial batches and dozens of refinements later, all of chef Vicki’s hard work finally paid off and My Favorite Indulgence was born.

Granola can often be a calorie laden sugar fest, so it’s always good to take a look at the ingredients and nutritional information. Using only real food ingredients, My Favorite Indulgence granolas are vegan, non-GMO, preservative-free and pack a nice amount of fiber. Compared to most store bought granola, their entire product line is significantly lower in sugar, salt, fat and carbs; perfect for those wanting a healthier snack option. One serving (1/4 cup) of their granola ranges from 130-150 calories, 4.5-7g fat, 8-9g sugar, 3-4g protein and 18-21g carbohydrates. With nutritional stats like that, you can definitely indulge in two!

With four varieties to choose from; Chocolate-Mocha, Classic Almond, Pumpkin Spiced and Maple Cinnamon, there is a flavor sure to please just about any palate.

Let’s get to tasting!

Classic Almond Granola

If you’re a traditional granola lover, this is for you! This variety contains almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds. Most granolas I’ve tried tend to be chewy, not this one. My Favorite Indulgence is slow roasted in small batches giving it their signature crunch. Naturally sweetened with maple syrup and the perfect blend of vanilla and cinnamon, the Classic Almond was so tasty! One of my favorite things about granola is how versatile it is. I couldn’t wait to sprinkle some on top of my apple cinnamon pancakes that morning. This flavor would also make a pretty awesome topping for a warm apple crisp. I’m hungry just thinking about it!

Chocolate-Mocha Granola

Obsessed. That is the only way I can describe how I feel about the Chocolate Mocha flavor. Upon opening the bag, you’re instantly hit with the aroma of chocolate cake meets coffee house. Neither overpowers the other and is cleverly blended to allow both flavors to shine through. It sure made for a particularly yummy topping for my waffles! It’s a seriously addictive combination and the perfect healthy way to start your day! My hubby has grown quite fond of this flavor too. We’ve already gone through two bags! I guess I need to find a better hiding spot!

While I also enjoyed it mixed into my yogurt, it’s not hard to imagine this granola being equally at home covered in milk or grabbed by the handful on the way out the door.

Pumpkin Spiced

Who said pumpkin is just for fall. I enjoy pumpkin all year long. Pumpkin Spice is sweet, yet spicy thanks to cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. I loved it! This had lots of dried cranberries which really added to the sweet goodness of the granola. I don’t know what I’m more proud of, the fact that my cheesecake didn’t crack or I made this awesome pumpkin spiced crust with the granola. Making your own crust is much easier than you think. By finely grinding your granola in a food processor and adding some melted butter, you can make a pretty tasty crust that can be used for pies, cakes or cheesecake.

The granola that Vicki created is so incredibly tasty and worth every bite. The Chocolate-Mocha Granola is my favorite flavor with Pumpkin Spice not too far behind!

As always, I love that you show the versatility of each flavor of any product, with your snacks/meals. Delicious and fun! Wishing you a very happy Friday – let’s hope our package woes were limited to the past week or so, and it’s done 😉 XO

    • Happy Friday Liz!The Classic Almond is a perfect one to start with! Even if your not down with eating it as is, it makes an awesome pie, cake or cheesecake crust! So much healthier than any of the other pie crust options at the grocery store! Cheers to a great weekend and on-time deliveries! xo

  3. Being a Chief Tasting Officer sounds like a dream job! I’ll have to keep an eye out since they are a CA based company. So creative to use it as a crust for your cheesecake. After trying the Purely Elizabeth granola I hopped on the granola train!

    • Happy Saturday Jo! I know, I’m hoping maybe Vicki will consider me for the back up CTO position! Yes, please keep an eye out for her granola! I’m sure your bound to find it! Purely Elizabeth was one of the first one’s I got hooked on thanks to Amber introducing it to me a few years ago!
