Friday Food Finds – Nutty Novelties Nut Butter Review

Nutty Novelties is a fresh, gourmet nut butter company based in Souderton, PA founded by entrepreneur, Caleb Mangum. Born and raised in PA myself, I’m a huge advocate of supporting local businesses and of course, anything involving nut butter!

Nutty Novelties currently offers 17 varieties of natural spreads that are combined with either peanuts, almonds, cashews or pistachios.

I’ll be sharing my review for five of the flavors: Butterscotch Peanut Butter, Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter, The Concoction, Cinnamon Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Almond Butter.

Cinnamon Peanut Butter

The cinnamon takes center stage as the most prominent contribution to this peanut butter flavor. Not that it’s a bad thing, but you just have to love cinnamon – which I do! As for the consistency, this peanut butter is a combination of both creamy and slightly crunch making it ideal for slathering onto a bagel, waffles or some cinnamon dusted apples.

Butterscotch Peanut Butter

In the world of peanut butter, butterscotch is such an underused flavor. Sweet, salty and smooth, this flavor was slightly reminiscent of those butterscotch hard candies I loved so much growing up. I decided to make a batch of Butterscotch Peanut Butter Protein bites with this flavor! I’ll be posting the recipe for this tasty treat on my Instagram feed next week!

The Concoction

The Concoction was the peanut butter to my raspberry jelly in this sweet and salty inspired toast. As their website states,”The Concoction is a miscellaneous, unrepeatable, delicious combination of any and/or all Nutty Novelties’ nut butter varieties. NOT for the unadventurous. Seriously delicious! I loved the unique flavor of this nut butter! My batch was predominantly pistachio in flavor which was a pleasant surprise. If you purchase a Concoction and then want to it purchase one again, it will be different each time. Pretty cool concept! However, just be mindful if you happen to be allergic to any of the existing nuts in their regular lineup, you may want to avoid this flavor.

Pumpkin Spice

For those that know me, I’m a bit of a pumpkin addict! The website described this seasonal flavor as “a creamy peanut butter made with real pumpkin, pumpkin morsels with just enough pumpkin spice.” Sadly, I could not pick up on any of the pumpkin spice flavoring nor did I come across any of the pumpkin morsels mentioned in the product description. I decided to give this flavor a second try on a slice of pumpkin cornbread (recipe coming soon!) and had the same experience. Unfortunately, the Pumpkin Spice flavor fell just a bit flat for me.

Dark Chocolate Almond Butter

For my almond butter lovers, the Dark Chocolate flavor did not disappoint. Sweet, rich and strong, there was no mistaking the presence of dark chocolate flavor in this almond butter. Blended perfectly, neither flavor overwhelmed the other. This would make a great dip for pretzels, cookies or as a great way to add flavor to your morning oatmeal. My biggest problem was trying to stop myself from eating the whole jar! Hands down, this was my favorite!

  1. No disrespect to all the details and fun servings ideas in your review post, but I’m distracted by the tantalizing idea of BUTTERSCOTCH PEANUT BUTTER!!!!! Oh my. Checking out their online store now; and I can’t wait for that upcoming protein bites recipe! HAPPY FRIDAY! xo

    • No disrespect taken at all! I know we both love butterscotch goodies! Since my jar is gone, this actually inspired me to make my own version over the weekend! I have a fresh bag of peanuts just begging to be used. The bites recipe is an easy one too! Stay tuned! Enjoy your weekend! xo

  2. Butterscotch is my #1 favorite flavor. Butterscotch discs were a staple of mine when I was writing my dissertation! Popped them one after another while I was typing away on my laptop. I’m headed over to their website now to check out all their flavors. I hope the pistachio didn’t affect your intolerance too terribly! Looking forward to the recipes you’ll be sharing soon. Pumpkin cornbread!? Sounds delish!

    • Hi Jo! Butterscotch is definitely an underutilized ingredient not only in peanut butter but in a lot of recipes! I think it deserves to shine just like some of my other fall flavors like maple and pumpkin! I’ll be sharing that cornbread recipe soon and also the butterscotch bites! Have a great weekend! xo
