Friday Food Finds- NuZest Clean Lean Protein Review

Hello my friends! I hope you’ve had a good week. It’s been a busy one for me. Today I’m sharing a new to me protein powder.  I recently had the opportunity to sample NuZest Clean Lean Protein Powder. NuZest is a pea protein, which I don’t have a whole lot of experience working with.

I was really excited to try NuZest because it is 100% plant-based and free of additives, preservatives and artificial flavors found in most protein powders. NuZest is also gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, lectin-free, egg-free, non-GMO, easy to digest, and paleo friendly.

Let’s talk about the taste!

It comes in four flavors – Wild Strawberry, Smooth Vanilla, Rich Chocolate, and Creamy Cappuccino.. Similar products I have tried in the past have  had too much artificial flavors and tend to have a funny aftertaste. Clean Lean Proteins use natural vanilla powder, cocoa extract and/or coffee. There is no artificial or chemical taste. I have to say this is probably the most smooth tasting protein powder I have ever had.

Check out just a few ways you can enjoy NuZest’s protein powders in some gluten-free and protein packed recipes!

Smooth Vanilla

I love vanilla because it’s versatile and can be used as a base for flavoring. I used the Smooth Vanilla to make a Snickerdoodle Protein Cookie. This powder really bakes well! My cookie came out super moist and flavorful.  The vanilla would also be great to use for protein pancakes or waffles.

Wild Strawberry

The Wild Strawberry protein was definitely the most flavorful out of the four.  It was also my favorite! I made a Strawberry Protein bread with this packet!  The bread came out so moist and flavorful- I hope you enjoy the recipe!

  • ½ cup coconut flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt

  • 5 large strawberries, diced(reserve one for the top of your cake)
  • stevia to taste
  1. Add all ingredients into one large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir until well combined.
  3. Your batter may be slightly liquidy, that's okay.
  4. Add your batter to a 9 inch nonstick cake pan.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.

Creamy Cappuccino

I used the Creamy Cappuccino flavor to make some Coffee Chocolate Chip protein balls! The creamy cappuccino had a nice and sweet coffee flavor that wasn’t bitter in any way.

Rich Chocolate

The Rich Chocolate flavor was exceptionally good! I made a bowl of  Cherry Chocolate Chip oats with this flavor!  I was impressed with this flavor. The chocolate had just the right sweetness, texture and was not chalky like some vegan protein powders can be.

Clean Lean Protein is by far the best tasting vegetable sourced protein powder I’ve ever had. It mixes easily, has few ingredients, and does not contain any soy!

  1. Very good to read that this pea protein actually tastes good and bakes well! That’s usually not the case with pea protein (at least in my past experience with it, haha). Hope you have a restful weekend ahead!

    • Hi Liz! I hope you had a great weekend! This one truly did bake well- I was pleasantly surprised too! I would suggest trying their sample packets to see if you like the protein! The snickerdoodle cookie turned out perfect!

    • Hi Jody! This was definitely very new to me since I usually only bake or make treats with whey and casein! I hope you give it a try!
