Happy Friday and hello long weekend! My three day weekend officially starts right now. I can hardly believe we’re just two weeks away from Christmas! This weekend we have one of our favorite holiday parties to attend. We look forward to it every year. Tons of food, great wine and the biggest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen.
If you are new to my blog, welcome! Every Friday I review new to me products that I’m excited to share with my readers! In this week’s Friday Food Finds, I’m sharing a review for Outer Aisle Gourmet!
Recently, I reached out to Jeanne David the founder of Outer Aisle Gourmet about the opportunity to review her products. She was very generous to send me the Veggie Sandwich Thins and Pizza Crust to try.
Outer Aisle Gourmet was founded by Jeanne and her husband, Dan, and has become a family project with much help and support from their boys. Outer Aisle Gourmet products incorporate many of the aspects of Jeanne’s life that are most near and dear to her. The veggie sandwich thins and veggie pizza crust have become staples in her and her family’s diet as well as important fuel for their active lifestyles.
Outer Aisle Gourmet is recreating America’s favorite foods with vegetables – bread and pizza crust. Since their products are made with fresh vegetables, they are naturally low calorie, low carb, low fat, gluten-free and nut-free! On top of all the health benefits – their products taste delicious!
- “Bread” made with cauliflower
- “Pizza crust” made with cauliflower
The Outer Aisle products are also a great choice for the celiac and non-celiac gluten-sensitive community because they are gluten-free and healthy. The products can be enjoyed by anyone looking to make healthier food choices … perfect for athletes, health-conscious eaters, diabetics, vegetarians, and those interested in low-carb eating for weight loss.
Here is the nutritional breakdown for both:
The Veggie Thins have 40 calories, 2g fat, 110mg sodium, 2g carbs, 1g fiber, 1g sugars, and 4g protein and each Veggie Pizza Crust has 100 calories, 6g fat, 240mg sodium, 5g carbs, 1g fiber, 2g sugars, and 9g protein.
I personally have never perfected the cauliflower crust recipe. As many times as I have tried, it has either been too soggy or my crust broke apart. Enter Outer Aisle Gourmet Pizza Crusts to the rescue! I decided to make a Hawaiian Pizza with mine. From start to finish my lunch was on the table in just about 10 minutes. The pizza crust crisps up perfectly in the oven and held up beautifully with my toppings!
Here is how to make your own healthy pizza using Outer Aisle’s Pizza Crust!
- 2 Outer Aisle Gourmet Pizza crusts
- 4 oz deli ham, chopped into small pieces
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheese of choice
- ½ cup unsweetened crushed pineapple
- ½ cup pizza sauce(low sugar)
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Place your crust onto a baking sheet.
- Evenly spread pizza sauce on pizza crust.
- Top with your ham and pineapple
- Sprinkle your cheese evenly on top.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until done.
Chilly weather means a grilled cheese and soup. I used the veggie thins to make a Turkey, Pepperjack Cheese and Roasted Red Pepper grilled cheese sandwich. I added a teaspoon of coconut oil to my pan, assembled my sandwich and grilled it up. It went perfect with some Roasted Red Pepper soup. My sandwich had a nice crispy crunch to it from cooking it in the coconut oil!
Outer Aisle receives a 10 out of 10 from me. Both have earned a permanent place in my refrigerator. All of their products arrive fresh to your doorstep and can be refrigerated for a few days or frozen and for later use.
