Friday Food Finds -Quantum Energy Squares Review

Love Coffee, love snacks. Enter Quantum Energy Squares, a relatively new energy bar on the market containing as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. From my morning cup of coffee, to chocolate covered espresso beans and ice cream, it’s no secret my love for coffee and anything coffee flavored. So when the team at Quantum reached out and offered to send me a box, I was more than eager to give them a try.

QUANTUM ENERGY SQUARES

About Quantum Energy Squares:

Quantum Squares come in two flavors; Caffe Mocca Macchiato with Pecans and Dark Chocolate Cherry with Almonds. The squares are gluten free, certified vegan, soy free, dairy free, non-gmo, and contain no artificial flavors or colors. Quantum uses only real food and wholesome ingredients you can recognize and pronounce like dates, rolled oats, almonds, pecans, quinoa, chia seeds and dried cherries.

Each square has 100mg of caffeine equal to 1 cup of coffee and as much protein as a whole egg. The caffeine in the bars comes from a mix of guarana seeds, matcha green tea and arabica coffee beans. From a nutritional standpoint, the bars average between 200-250 calories, 9-10 grams fat, 25-26 grams carbohydrates, 7 grams protein and 4 grams fiber.

Caffe Mocca Macchiato with Pecans

Caffe Mocca Macchiato is a great flavor combination that honors the wonderful bitterness of coffee and dark chocolate. Upon opening up the wrapper, I was instantly hit with the fantastic aroma of fresh coffee. The texture is dense, yet soft and very easy to eat. The pecans, dark chocolate chips and chia seeds add a nice crunch, and the flavors are well balanced. The coffee flavor is present, but so is the chocolate. Even with the dates and tapioca syrup, the Quantum Squares are not overly sweet. If you’re a coffee and chocolate fan, you know what I’m talking about when it comes to a preference for bitter versus sweet, and you’ll appreciate the level of sweetness in these bars.

Since these are marketed as an energy bar, I decided to put it to the test by replacing my afternoon latte with one of the bars. As someone who has a pretty high tolerance to caffeine, I did not experience any caffeine jitters, but did notice a good amount of focus and energy to get me through the rest of my afternoon.

QUANTUM ENERGY SQUARES,

Dark Chocolate Cherry With Almonds

For those that know how obsessed I am with anything chocolate and cherry, I was really looking forward to this flavor. Chewy, sweet, and full of chocolate-y coffee flavor, the bar contains a generous portion of dried cherries and dark chocolate chips. I think the whole dark chocolate + cherry + chia seed combo really spoke to me. The rolled oats combined with the healthy fats from the dry roasted almonds, and almond butter, helped give me that sustained energy and brain boosting power to get through the rest of my busy morning. The Dark Chocolate Cherry with Almonds was hands down my favorite of the two flavors.

Overall thoughts; Quantum Energy Squares are incredibly versatile and ideal as a morning or midday pick me up. These would also be a perfect for those that enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking or biking.

As a side note: Caffeine affects everyone differently. I would caution those with a known sensitivity to start with just half a bar to assess tolerance or avoid using them altogether.

Quantum Energy Squares can be purchased on their website  and also through Amazon.

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed these! The packaging reminds me of Caribou Coffee… hope you know what I’m talking about, haha. HAPPY FRIDAY!! xo

    • Happy Friday but most importantly, Happy Birthday Liz! And yes, I sure do remember Caribou Coffee! I still see their brand at certain grocery stores! Although I enjoyed these, they will never replace my beloved coffee! Enjoy your birthday! xo

  2. I’ve not tried, but by looking at the texture , they remind me of Lara Bars. I think these would be great for travel too! I’m usually in need of a pick me up when traveling so the 100mg would do the trick! Jerky, tuna packets, rice cakes and nuts are some of my travel go-tos.
