Friday Food Finds – Quest Hero Bar Review

Happy Friday friends! Everybody deserves a Hero…. bar. The Hero Bar is Quest Nutrition’s version of a “candy bar” style protein bar with icing and a gooey interior. Today, I’m sharing my full review for all 3 flavors.

What makes the Hero Bar different from the regular Quest bar line? The company has launched the Hero bar as sort of cross between the candy bar and the protein bar. The base is that of the Beyond Cereal bars which I am a fan of already! Like the cereal bars, these are also sweetened with Allulose. Some say there is an aftertaste associated with the sweetener. I did not detect any at all.

Let’s get to tasting!

Blueberry Cobbler

As a big blueberry fan, I had to try this flavor first. The base tastes just like the Beyond Cereal Cinnamon Roll bar. The Blueberry Cobbler bar is enrobed in a white chocolate protein coating. The sweetness is just right, not overpowering in flavor like some protein bars can be. I love it’s soft texture and gentle crunch. The gooey blueberry jam-like filling in the top layer is what got me! After tasting this flavor, the Chocolate Caramel Pecan and Vanilla Caramel definitely had some high standards to live up to!

Nutritional Profile: 30g Carbs – 10g Fiber – 12g Allulose – 4g Erythritol = 4g Net Carbs

Chocolate Caramel Pecan

Quest calls this their healthy version of a Snickers bar. This flavor brought back memories of those pecan caramel turtle candies I ate as a kid with the gooey caramel inside. The chocolate and caramel were the prominent star of the show. Even though there were some pecans scattered throughout, this was not the dominant flavor. Chocolate Caramel Pecan completely satisfied my sweet tooth!

Vanilla Caramel

To be honest, I had to go back and try this bar again since my initial reaction was “WOAH way too sweet!” The bar has a nice smooth vanilla flavor with a surprising salty pop on the finish. Once you begin chewing, that caramel sneaks it’s way into the mix. This flavor did eventually grow on me, but it’s still my least favorite of the three flavors.

QUEST HERO BAR, PRODUCT REVIEW, FRIDAY FOOD FINDS

Overall, both the Blueberry Cobbler and Chocolate Caramel Pecan were my favorite. I actually enjoyed these more than the original Quest bars. Given my recent discovery of intolerance to soy, I definitely will be adding these to my protein bar rotation.

Have you tried the Quest Hero Bar yet? What is your favorite flavor? Please share – I would love to hear from you!

  1. SO so glad you’ll be able to enjoy these bars safely – keep them in stock, for sure! I won’t be trying the Quest Hero bars – more for you 😉 Happy Friday, dear Wendy!! Wishing you an awesome day and upcoming weekend xo

    • Happy Friday Liz! On my Quest for finding bars that are soy free has been a bit challenging especially when they also have to taste good!I didn’t think you would be trying these out based on your experience with the cereal bars. I’ll be sharing a blog soon on the tastiest “soy free” bars soon! Have a wonderful weekend my friend! xo

  2. Very interesting & I was looking forward to the Vanilla one the most. I talked to the originator of Allulose at ExpoWest! Got all kinds of samples of other products!

    • Hey Jody! Very cool! What are your thoughts on allulose after speaking with that person? You may like the vanilla, it was just a tad bit sweeter than I would have liked!

  3. I actually haven’t tried blueberry yet but I tried the other two! Originally I thought I liked the chocolate better but then I had the vanilla again and couldn’t decide! lol I have a very high tolerance for sweetness ????

    • Blueberry is seriously the BOMB!The vanilla eventually grew on me but still comes in third place when I rank them!
