Happy Friday Friends! The weekend is nearly here! I hope your week is rounding out nicely and that your weekend will be filled with some relaxation and fun. This week I’m sharing some fun new sauces I recently came across through social media- Rootz Sauce!
If you’re at all like me, you can never own too many BBQ sauces or hot sauces. I was very excited to add two new ones to my kitchen arsenal this week!
Meet the Creator of Rootz Sauce!
“Born and raised in the soulful South, chef Kaitlin Chamblin’s culinary upbringing was infused with sauces at every meal. A dish wasn’t complete without an array of condiments to dip, spread and relish. Years passed and the Californian culinary scene called, where a world of flavors unlocked an idea: why not create a sauce to satisfy her cravings for home with her newfound love of tastes from further afield? That’s the idea behind these sauces, bringing together a Kentucky passion for simple recipes slowly cooked, with new ingredients and inspirations from LA. The result is a combination of Southern sensibility and West Coast experimentation, all stirred up with love and attention, and poured into irresistible sauces, generously spiced yet perfectly balanced with a rounded sweetness.”
ROOTZ PINEAPPLE BBQ SAUCE
The Pineapple BBQ Sauce is gluten free, paleo friendly, has no artificial ingredients and is Non-GMO.
They use only ingredients you can pronounce and recognize!
Ingredients: Tomato Puree (Vine-ripened Fresh Tomatoes, Salt, Naturally Derived Citric Acid), Organic Pineapple (Pineapple, Pineapple Juice), Blackstrap Molasses, Organic Fresh Red Onions, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Sea Salt, Chili Powder (Chili Pepper, Paprika, Salt & Garlic) Granulated Garlic.
After trying a bit of the sauce, I immediately decided to create a pizza using the Pineapple BBQ as the base! This tasty treat can be prepped in 10 minutes for a quick lunch or dinner!
Rootz Pineapple BBQ Chicken Pizza

- 2-3 TBS Rootz Pineapple BBQ Sauce
- 2-3 TBS low fat mozzarella or feta cheese
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Take your prepared pizza crust and place it onto a pizza pan.
- Spread your BBQ sauce evenly onto the crust.
- Add spinach, asparagus and chicken.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes.
- Remove and allow to sit for about 5 minutes.
The Pineapple BBQ sauce is so versatile and can be used on just about anything! This added some nice pizazz to my Grilled Provolone and Turkey Sandwich. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy! This sauce would be perfect on some grilled chicken, salmon or pulled pork!
ROOTZ SWEET+SPICY TABLE SAUCE
The Sweet + Spicy Table Sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. It can be used as a condiment, hot sauce, or marinade. This sauce too is gluten free, paleo friendly, has no artificial ingredients and is Non-GMO. I love a hot sauce on eggs and recently used some of this on my omelet!
Ingredients: Fresh Red Peppers, Organic Fresh White Onions, Honey, Fresh Red Bell Peppers, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic White Vinegar, Water, Fresh Habanero Peppers, Sea Salt.
I recreated one of the recipes from the website for Sweet and Spicy Coconut Salmon! The jasmine rice helped balance out the spiciness from the fresh habanero peppers in the sauce. It was absolutely delicious!
I highly recommend adding both of these gems to your pantry! If you need ideas for food inspiration, check out their recipe site.
