Friday Food Finds – StrongBody Ice Cream Review

Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts! Give this girl a spoon and some delicious ice cream and there is no stopping me! So when my friends at StrongBody Ice Cream reached out to send me their newly released ice cream pints to try, I more than happily obliged.

About StrongBody:

Our Mission is simple: We make great tasting light ice cream, use the best possible healthy and clean ingredients to produce an ice cream that you can eat with no guilt. We are a small company that loves life, outdoors, sports and healthy eating. We also love ice cream and the reason we created a light ice cream product that fits our life style, and we think it will fit yours as well.

I was first introduced to StrongBody a few years ago when they launched their protein ice cream bars. With the recent success of similar protein ice creams on the market, the company decided to discontinue the bars and switch to pints instead.

StrongBody currently offers two flavors; Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Chocolate Chip. Their ice cream contains contains whey protein isolate, no added sugars and uses both erythritol and stevia as sweeteners.

Grab a spoon and let’s get to tasting!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip

This is definitely an ice cream that needs to sit out of the freezer for a little while before you can easily get a spoon in there. I liken it to the texture of homemade ice cream after it’s been in the freezer a few days – you have to (tortuously) let it sit on the counter before you can eat it.  So, I waited about 20 minutes, and when the pint had softened, I continued.

Creamy and indulgent, the chocolate is super rich and the chocolate chips add a little extra crunch and more chocolate! This flavor has the right balance of sweetness and rich chocolate flavor that will make any chocolate lover swoon. Though the photo doesn’t show it well, there are an abundant amount of mini chocolate chips throughout the entire pint.

Nutritional Info: 4 servings per pint. 1/2 cup serving: 90 calories, 8g protein, 2.5g fat, 9g carbohydrates and 7g sugar.

Vanilla Chocolate Chip

This is such a good combination when you want a chocolate fix but not an overwhelming chocolate taste. You have the chocolate pieces that combine with the rich creamy vanilla ice cream. As you can see, there is no shortage of mix-ins StrongBody nailed it with the chocolate chip to ice cream ratio. Although I detected a very slight aftertaste from the natural sweetener (erythritol) used, it was nothing that I couldn’t look past as I continued to devour this pint. As you can see there is no shortage of mix-ins! I also like the chocolate chip to ice cream ratio.

Nutritional Info: 4 servings per pint. 1/2 cup serving 100 calories, 8g protein, 2.5g fat, 10g carbohydrates and 10g sugar.

Overall, the ice cream had a good creamy texture and solid flavor. Each of the flavors did not disappoint. Chocolate Chocolate Chip was my favorite of the line-up and one that I would add to my regular ice cream stash.

  1. Want to try these so bad!! I think I’m most excited about the vanilla chocolate chip! Thanks for reviewing them 🙂

  2. I’m a yoga instructor and a nutrition advisor so I always look for new healthy product, so when I saw Strongbody on I ordered the chocolate flavor, and I was positively surprised. I have tried quite a few protein icecream’s and often they taste bad or have to many calories, but Strongbody have managed to produce a low-calorie, high protein and tasteful chocolate ice cream. Well done
