Friday Food Finds- The Yogurt Edition

Hello and Happy Friday!  The weekend is upon us and I could not be more ecstatic. This week’s Friday Food Finds is all about yogurt! Enjoy!

Yoplait Greek 100 Whips

Yoplait WhipsI was a huge fan of Yoplait Whips when they first came out several years ago. I was very excited to hear that they were releasing a Greek Yogurt version.  Indecisive, I bought 7 of the 8 flavors: Vanilla Cupcake, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Strawberry Cheesecake, Tropical, Black Cherry. Unfortunately the spot where Lemon Meringue sat was empty. The whips have a light, fluffy, airy texture with only 100 calories, 12g sugar, and a whopping 9g of protein!  I tried the Vanilla and Raspberry so far.  The Raspberry flavor paired especially well with the lemon crepe I posted on Instagram earlier this week.  Only a few select grocery stores are carrying them; however I found mine at Walmart and heard Target has them too! Maple Hill Creamery- Creamline Yogurt

Maple Hill CreameryI traditionally go for Greek Yogurt but thought this was interesting since this was labeled as a “Creamline Yogurt” and I’ve never tried one before. The main difference between the two styles of yogurt is that Greek yogurt is strained during the manufacturing process, which means that the majority of liquid whey is removed. Straining results in a thicker, more concentrated “spoonable” style yogurt. Maple Hill Creamery offers 6 flavors: Plain, Maple, Lemon, Wild Blueberry, Vanilla and Orange Crème. I tried the Maple flavor. I found it to be thick and very lightly sweetened with maple syrup, it’s sour yet clean tasting with a hint of maple syrup. I also love the fact that the ingredient list is only 4 ingredients- Organic Pasteurized Whole Milk, Maple Syrup, Vanilla Extract and Live Yogurt Cultures. Chobani Green Tea and Concord Grape Greek Yogurt

chobani grape and green teaI found these two “limited edition” Chobani flavors at my local Wegman’s.  I tried the Green Tea flavor first. I cannot say that I cared for it very much.  It tastes more like a mix of vanilla yogurt with a touch of green tea flavoring. I love green tea so I was hoping for something that would pack a much stronger green tea flavor. Next up was the Concord Grape. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It smells strongly of concentrated grape. I think grape is a very hard flavor to create. Neither did anything for my taste buds however you may feel differently! Give both a try before they disappear. Click here to see the nutritional stats for both flavors.

Oikos Triple Zero

Oikos Triple ZeroI was very excited to find this on the shelf last week at my local grocery store. Available in 6 flavors: Vanilla, Coconut Crème, Strawberry, Mixed Berry, Banana and Peach. I have only been able to find the Vanilla flavor so far. This product is boasting 0 fat, 0 added sugar, and 0 artificial sweeteners – plus 15g of protein per 5.3 ounce container. The yogurt is sweetened with stevia versus sucralose. This yogurt is amazing and the taste is spectacular since it does not contain any of the old school artificial sweeteners. As an interesting side note, I found it very interesting that Oikos is targeting this product to its male audience even though the highest level of consumers for Greek yogurt is typically female. Shiny Spoons Buckwheat Pudding

Shiny Spoons Buckwheat PuddingI know this technically is not a yogurt per se, however I was game to try this and thought it was worthy of including in this week’s Friday Food Finds. All of their puddings are gluten free, soy free, dairy free, vegan and paleo friendly. Shiny Spoons chose buckwheat as their base because of its mild and pleasant flavor along with numerous health benefits.   Buckwheat is considered to be one of the Super Foods. There are 4 delicious flavors to choose from: Salted Caramel Mocha, Blueberry Jasmine, Vanilla Bean Cashew, Dark Dark Chocolate. I chose to go with Salted Caramel Mocha since you cannot go wrong with anything salted caramel or mocha. The pudding’s texture is mousse-like and indulgent. I liked that the pudding wasn’t overly sweet and was consistently thick. It’s perfectly sized for a quick snack! I will be heading back to pick up the other flavors! This is my top pick for this week’s Friday Food Finds!  Click here to learn more about Shiny Spoons and where to find these gems!

What recent food finds are you excited about? Are you a yogurt fan? What is your favorite brand and flavor? I would love to hear from you!

  1. Sarah had the cheese type product that was not yogurt but I am curious to find it. Eli Quark, I think…. It is based here near me. I am pretty boring & don’t try a lot of different things. 🙂 I am in love with my Skoop! 🙂

    • Hi Jody! I’ve heard really great things about Eli Quark- I cannot find it near me. When I went to the website it seemed pretty pricey to ship. I’ll hang in there until its available in a store near me! It sounds like you’re really loving Skoop- I need to read up on them!
