Friday Food Finds – Truth Bar Review

Foods with benefits are suppose to be big again this year. So, it’s no surprise that I’ve seen so many new nutrition companies pop on my social media feed these days. I recently had the opportunity to try out some bars from another brand that is new to me – Truth Bar. Today, I’m sharing my full review on these better for you nutrition bars.

Co-founded by Sean Fay and Diana Strobo, Truth Bar was founded on the belief that, in order to optimize our health and wellness, we need to embrace the whole truth of what our bodies need — that the core of optimal health is a healthy gut. The bar was created to make it simple to get the rich fiber, healthy oils, good carbs and the prebiotics and probiotics that we need for optimal gut health.

Why Choose Truth Bar?

  • Gluten and Soy Free
  • NON-GMO
  • Low in sugar
  • No artificial ingredients or fillers, only healthy ingredients like chia seeds, coconut oil, cacao nibs, almond butter
  • Vegan options(Dark Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Raspberry Coconut)
  • Packed with 100mg of Omega-3 from chia seeds
  • Contain 3 billion CFU Probiotics (Bacillus Coagulans)

Truth Bars are available in 4 flavors: Chocolate Almond Crunch, Chocolate Dipped Coconut, Chocolate Raspberry Coconut and Mint Chocolate Chip. All of the bars are dipped in luxurious dark chocolate. The company did not hesitate to take into consideration their consumers with soy sensitivities. Soy based lecithin is commonly used as an emulsifier in dark chocolates. Truth Bar’s specially formulated dark chocolate is completely free from soy and sugar. Huge win for me!

So how did they taste?

Chocolate Almond Crunch

The dark chocolate coating was smooth and luscious, giving way to a chewy yet firm nougat like texture that reminded me slightly of a 3 Musketeers bar. This flavor has a generous portion of cacao nibs scattered throughout the bar which adds a nice crunch. Although Truth Bars are not marketed as a protein bar, Chocolate Almond Crunch contains a blend of both brown rice and whey protein isolate, making this a nice option as a pre-workout snack or meal.

Mint Chocolate Chip

Delicious! This bar is as close to a healthy Thin Mint as you can possibly get, because it has that slim bar texture of the cookie but also the taste! The chewy texture comes from the addition of cacao nibs which I found to be a nice complement to the base of the bar. The mint flavor is not strong or overpowering at all. It’s actually more on the subtle side and is quite balanced with the dark chocolate. Similar to Chocolate Almond Crunch, mint also contains the brown rice/whey isolate protein blend.

As a side note, neither flavor leave that “protein bar” like aftertaste that can often arise in so many bars on the market.

Dark Chocolate Coconut

It’s no secret that I love all things coconut and chocolate. Reminiscent of a Mounds bar, this was everything I hoped it would be. Enrobed in rich dark chocolate and very soft in texture, coconut is the star and predominant flavor of this bar. This bar literally melts in your mouth. Have you ever tried chilling your bars? Such a game changer. Place your bar into the freezer for 10-15 minutes and break apart into smaller pieces so you can savor the moment for as long as possible. Trust me, just do it!

Chocolate Raspberry Coconut

Fruit flavors and chocolate together can either be hit or miss for me. Bursting with a fresh raspberry taste, this reminded me of biting into a decadent dark chocolate raspberry truffle from Godiva. The flavor combination just works so well together. It was rich, decadent, indulgent, delicious with each bite. If you love raspberries, go to their website, find a location near you and grab one of these now.

Nutritional Profile: 180 calories, Total Fat 14g, Total Carb. 29g, Protein 2g, Fiber 13g, Sugar 5g.

Final Thoughts:

For dark chocolate lovers who also care about healthy eating, Truth Bars are a great alternative with better for you ingredients and added health benefits. Without hesitation, I will be adding these to my normal bar rotation. All of the flavors are delicious, however, the Dark Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Raspberry Coconut are definitely the two standouts for me.

Truth Bars can be purchased through their online store, Amazon and or by finding them via their store locator.
