Friday Food Finds – Wellnut Farms Walnut Butter Review

It’s been way too long since I’ve shared some new nut butters with all of you, so let’s fix that right this second, shall we? Today we’re going to talk about Wellnut Farms, purveyor of small batch flavored walnut butters made with simple, wholesome ingredients that you can feel good about using.

About Wellnut Farms:

Four generations of farmers, two family farms and lots of walnuts!

From their website: “Fifty years ago, our grandparents planted their first walnut trees in sunny, bountiful northern California. Five decades later, we are still passionate about all things walnuts. Walnuts are nutritious little nuts and contain vitamins and minerals. But unlike other nuts, walnuts are also a good source of plant based ALA omega-3 fatty acid, which has health supporting benefits. You can only imagine our delight when we discovered our two favorite things coming together-walnuts and indulgence. There is no other product on the market like ours. With love from nutty California, Kevin & Leon “

Why Walnuts Are So Good For You:

  • High ALA omega-3 essential fatty acids
  • Cancer fighting
  • High in many micronutrients
  • Good for your heart
  • Assists in weight loss
  • Helps decrease aging

Despite their healthy reputation, walnuts can often be quite tannic in flavor and taste. Wellnut Farms overcame that challenge by combining three varieties of walnuts and the right combination of ingredients to create something very palatable and indulgent in taste.

Wellnut Farms walnut butter is offered in three delicious flavors; Original, Salted Caramel and Maple. All of their nut butters are vegan, gluten free, dairy free,  soy free, non-GMO and contain no artificial flavors or preservatives. Wellnut Farms is committed to providing the absolute best quality products while doing everything possible to treat our earth with care. Let’s get to tasting!

Salted Caramel

Wellnut Farms Salted Caramel had my eye the second I saw it sitting in the box and I could barely wait to try it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the amount of caramel added does not overpower the walnut butter, and is instead a great complement, adding just enough saltiness to create something really unique. With a texture that resembles buttercream frosting, it was the perfect finishing touch to my pumpkin bread.

If you’re craving straight up walnut butter, the original is your best option. It’s walnut butter like you’ve never had before. No grainy or gritty texture like some I’ve tried in the past. Wellnut Farms requires very little stirring, is super creamy and downright delicious. The Original was the perfect choice to use as the base for my Carrot Cake Thumbprint Cookies(recipe coming next week!).

Maple was the third flavor I tried. It’s smooth and creamy and the maple sweetens it without having an overpowering taste. The addition of maple syrup and sugar adds a warm and wonderful flavor to it, an almost cozy taste. It was also the secret ingredient to my maple donuts(another recipe coming soon!). Addicting….if your a  fan of maple flavor, this is a must try!

Overall: Wellnut Farms has got a solid product here. After trying these amazing flavors, I don’t think I’ll ever look at walnut butter the same way again.!

Where to buy: Wellnut Farms can be purchased on Amazon or in select local retailers. You can use the store locator on their website to find out if they are available in a store near you.

  1. These flavors sound delicious and a texture like buttercream frosting!?! I think I must try! I’ve not tried walnut butter and walnuts are on my ‘might be sensitive/intolerant to’ list but these flavors sound like the reward outweighs the risk!
